Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose Osteopathy? I believe that no two people are the same, so your treatment shouldn't be either. Alongside your symptoms, I’ll take into account factors such as your sleep, stress, work and lifestyle to create a treatment plan that's right for you. Our aim is not only to help you feel better, but to help you understand your body and feel confident managing your health for the long term.
Do I need a referral from my GP to see an Osteopath? No, most health conditions do not prevent you from having osteopathic treatment, but it's important that we have a full understanding of your medical history so that treatment can be tailored safely and appropriately so this requires you to tell us about any conditions you have prior to treatment.
In some circumstances, we may ask for consent to liaise with your GP or consultant, or recommend that you seek further medical advice before treatment begins. If we feel that your symptoms require medical investigation or are not suitable for osteopathic treatment, we will explain this fully and guide you towards the most appropriate next steps.
What do I need to wear to treatment?Comfortable clothing that allow movement.
Do you treat children?
Yes. Osteopaths can treat children of all ages, including babies, children and teenagers.
In the UK, osteopaths are trained to assess and treat people across the lifespan, but treatment is always adapted to the child's age, stage of development and individual needs.
How many sessions will I need? There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. The right treatment plan depends on your symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. Some people come in for short-term support with an injury, while others choose regular monthly treatments to keep moving well, build resilience, and stay ahead of aches and injuries.
What makes you different? We know that pain and injury rarely exist in isolation. That's why we look at the bigger picture, taking into account your lifestyle, work, stress, sleep and movement habits, rather than focusing solely on where it hurts.
We take the time to listen, explain things clearly and create a treatment plan that is unique to you. By combining hands-on treatment with practical advice and education, our goal is to help you feel better, move better and stay well for the long term.
